Fairy on the Streets

The Story
Fairy on the Streets was a short-form animation I made in my senior year of college. It was a comedic short detailing the morning awakening of a fairy before the wonderful reality of city folk littering stops her day.
It started with some storyboards based on a mossy rock I saw on my drive to work.
I then found the beautiful character model of Meli by Kiel Figgins.
From there, I completed my first round of background modeling and animation. It was... by no means perfect. After a quick critique from teachers, I revised my background modeling prior to the first render of the short and following the first render to improve the environmental accuracy.

With some quick editing and compositing, the first version of Fairy on the Streets was done. I was proud of what was accomplished, but there was a lot lacking. The animation was still jittery, I had clipping issues, the scale was off, there were missing textures, and there was no integrated background. All of these were remedied in the final version of the short.
The final animation was something I loved. I had been able to bring in eye expressions and fixed my jitter and clipping issues. A second pass of the lighting got the render much closer to something I was properly pleased with, and taking additional time to revise my composite and sound editing allowed me to find a new love for the comedy of the animation that I had been encouraged to lean into. The finished animation was submitted to the Otis College Animation Festival where it was officially selected for viewing.
